A free addition game for kids: addition and subtraction to 20 in six strategies instead of 400 facts to memorise. Climb the ladder, earn stars.
Kids who are quick at maths have not memorised 400 facts. They know a few really well and take one short step to the rest. The ladder teaches those steps in order: doubles, near doubles, partners of ten, bridging ten, adding nine, then subtraction by thinking forwards.
Every rung starts with a one-line trick and a ten-frame picture, then a quick round with streaks, sound and confetti. A wrong answer shows the fact in ten-frames with the strategy that gets there, and comes back later in the round. Guessing costs hearts. Two stars opens the next rung.
